You thought it was just for directions, but this is also good for when you want to find out what businesses are in certain industries in a particular city. For example, to get a list of any oil refiners within 50 miles of Santa Barbara, CA, just press the "Business Category" button, enter "oil refiners" and "santa barbara" and "ca" in the appropriate places: voila! Pretty neat - and of course, you can then get a map showing you how to get there. There are no "sponsored results" in their business category search returns; when you use the phone directory sites, they will often dump ads on you. Mapquest does not.

A good site for locating companies; you can search using various parameters such as industry, city and state (and country), number of employees, and annual revenue.
Entry Level Employers Search
This is a search engine that allows you to locate employers looking for entry-level employees (as would be typical for new college graduates). The site lets you search by a number of parameters, mostly geographical. Information returned includes the person to contact at each company, which is good to know. When searching, keep at it. The search software will work, but it also frequently returns errors; it's kinda buggy. Another approach is their page (link) here (link to www.collegegrad.com/employerlinks/index.shtml); this is a list of links to entry-level employers on the Web. Info includes how many grads and new-hires they plan to employ in the coming year. Pretty neat.
