Transferable Skills
Readers of What Color Is Your Parachute? are familiar with the concept of transferable skills: essentially, that you are defined not by your job title, but by the skills that you possess, which are transferable from, and to, any occupation you may happen to be involved in at the moment. It will come as no surprise to you that there are transferable skills tests available on the Internet:
Transferable Skills Survey
A quick online test of your transferable skills. Test results will show you your strongest and weakest areas.

Skills Search
This quick test will help you link your skills to possible occupations, using the Department of Labor’s database. Once identified, you can look at lots of current information about these, including salary level, hiring rates, etc.

Motivated Skills Test
Some experts say that it is not your transferable skills that matter, but the ones you most enjoy using. They call these “motivated skills”, or “key skills”. On this site is a test you can take, to help you find your motivated skills.
