The Gateway Sites & More
This would be as good a place as any to reiterate that the Gateway sites I mentioned in the first chapter (and whose presence I have duplicated here) are excellent places for advice and information about job hunting. Also, the Supersites have many articles of value, though these will usually be better:
Job-Hunt
One of the best of the Gateway sites, run by Susan Joyce. A wealth of information on job hunting, using the Internet effectively, and current articles about the world of work. Past issues of the Job-Hunt newsletter, the Online Job Search Guide, are also available at the site.

Jobstar
Lots of good information for the job-hunter; particularly good when looking for information on salaries and the Hidden Job Market.

The Riley Guide
With informative and timely articles, The Riley Guide is one of the best job-hunt sites on the Web.

Quintessential Careers
Many articles on job-hunting, resumes, testing and career assessment. You must use Internet Explorer for some parts of the site to work properly.

Career InfoNet Reading Room
Part of Career InfoNet, which is itself part of the government’s triumvirate of job-hunting Web sites. Many valuable articles here.

Careers.Org Career Library
From Careers.Org, a site with lots of information; particularly good for college students.

Monster's Virtual Interview
Monster has a “virtual interview” exercise, which gives you the opportunity to practice a hiring interview, by offering you questions with multiple choice answers, and then telling you whether or not you chose the best answer. If you did not, it gives you a chance to try and choose a better answer the second time around.

While some of the questions are cute, in the case of the more serious questions, I didn’t think any of the answers offered was the correct one to give; it needs “None of the above” as an option. The world could be perfect if they would only listen…
